The first woman Attorney General of the Maldives. She served in the Cabinet as Attorney General/Legal Affairs Minister for 3 Governments. Uza Azima Shakoor received her LLB from the University of London and LLM from University of Western Australia. She has a public service record exceeding 25 years in various Government appointments. A very established name in the Maldivian Governance and Political Arena, Ms. Shakoor’s specialties in Law include, Constitutional Law, Banking and Finance, Criminal Law and Governance. 

Uza. Azima Shakoor is also an established artisanal chef, specializing in authentic Maldivian cuisine and opened the first fine dining Dhivehi Food restaurant in the country.

Dr Mariyam Zulfa

Former Minister of Tourism, Arts & Culture of Maldives and is currently a founder-member of Maldives Policy Advocacy Caucus  

She has qualified as a town-planner with BA Urban & Regional Planning (Uni of South Australia), Master of Business Administration (NZ) and PhD (Curtin Business School) specializing in tourism’s competitiveness in the Maldives.  Dr Zulfa has worked in the Office of Physical Planning & Design, Male’ as an urban planner and served as a Director of Selected Islands Development Unit in the Maldives government. She graduated with LLB (Uni of West. Australia) in 2006, completing the Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice in 2013 and is admitted to the Supreme Court of Western Australia since then. Her LLM, Public & International Law is from Melbourne University, graduating in 2019.  She is also licensed to practice law in the Maldives. Her interests are in planning law and constitutional law issues relating to Maldives. 

She has worked as an external consultant to Deloitte’s Japan and advisor to Nippon Koei since 2019 and has the experience to brief clients wishing to be involved in tourism investment, or engage in, business and planning for economic activity in the Maldives.
